Environment
Morocco is one of the major global tourist destinations and aims to become the reference destination for sustainable development around the Mediterranean by 2020.
The vision of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment is to support this challenge through education and environmental awareness among tourism accommodation stakeholders by establishing the Green Key label.
The Green Key program was launched by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 2002.
With 2,400 certified establishments in 56 countries, it is the most widely represented label in the world. It is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
It constitutes the first international network of eco-friendly tourist accommodations, with criteria, awarding procedures, and values to be conveyed that are identical and mandatory in each member country, with some specific adaptations for each. We are making every effort and working daily to soon achieve this highly valued label.
